The America–Sri Lanka Photographic Art Society (ASPAS), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, proudly hosted “The Beauty of Sri Lanka” on April 25, 2026 - a vibrant celebration of Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage, artistic traditions, and breathtaking natural beauty.
The event brought together distinguished guests, diplomats, travel enthusiasts, media, and friends of Sri Lanka for an inspiring evening of art and cultural expression. The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Ms. Achini Perera, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles and Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker Dr. Sarath Gunapala, Senior Scientist at NASA/JPL.
The exhibition opened with a ceremonial unveiling, traditional oil lamp lighting, and the national anthems of Sri Lanka and the United States. In her remarks, the Consul General highlighted the importance of showcasing Sri Lanka globally and expanding tourism opportunities, noting the strong potential for growth in U.S. travelers.
Dr. Gunapala captivated the audience with his keynote, “Journey of Infrared Photography,” while ASPAS President Mr. Suriya Perera emphasized the power of art in building cultural connections.
Guests also enjoyed traditional Sri Lankan performances, celebrating the island’s vibrant performing arts, and the evening concluded with a special recognition of participating children.
This exhibition continues its journey to Toronto, New York, and Washington, D.C., further promoting Sri Lanka as a unique travel destination and strengthening cultural ties across North America.
