The Consulate General is entrusted with strengthening Sri Lanka–U.S. relations and promoting Sri Lanka’s national interests across its consular jurisdiction covering eleven western states of the United States. It carries out a wide range of diplomatic, consular, economic, and cultural responsibilities, providing services to Sri Lankan nationals, including citizenship matters, birth registration, passport issuance, document attestation and legalization, and other consular assistance. It also facilitates visa services for foreign nationals travelling to Sri Lanka.

The Consulate General promotes Sri Lanka’s tourism, trade, investment, education, and cultural cooperation while fostering partnerships among governments, businesses, academic institutions, and communities. Through these efforts, it continues to strengthen the longstanding friendship and mutually beneficial partnership between Sri Lanka and the United States.
